YOUR LOCAL FIRE SAFETY SPECIALISTS
Fire risk assessment services in Poole
Poole is a town of contrasts. Waterfront apartment blocks around the Quay and Sandbanks, family homes converted into flats in Parkstone and Branksome, student lets near Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus, and some of the area’s largest industrial estates. Each type of building needs a fire risk assessment that reflects how it is actually used.
Quantis Fire Services works across Poole every week. We visit the property, walk the escape routes, check the fire safety measures already in place and speak to the people who manage the building. You then get a report written in plain English, with every action ranked by priority so you can budget and plan with confidence.
Whether you own a single flat conversion in Ashley Cross or manage a multi-let unit in Hamworthy, we can usually fit around your schedule and access arrangements.

WHAT THE LAW REQUIRES
Staying compliant in Poole
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person for any non-domestic premises, and for the shared areas of flats and HMOs, to carry out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment. Since October 2023 the full assessment must be recorded in writing, together with the name of the person who completed it, and relevant fire safety information must be shared with residents.
In Poole, the Fire Safety Order is enforced by Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, and BCP Council is responsible for HMO licensing and housing standards. Residential blocks can also carry extra duties under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, such as fire door checks and clear information for residents.

CASE STUDIES
Recent work in Poole
Examples of Poole properties we have assessed, the issues we found and how the owners resolved them.

COMMERCIAL OFFICE · POOLE
Big Group: two-floor staffed office
A fire risk assessment for Big Group’s office, a staffed building across two floors used by around 30 to 40 people each day. We reviewed the means of escape from both floors, the fire alarm and emergency lighting, fire doors and compartmentation, and the evacuation procedures and staff training needed for a building with this many occupants. The team received a clear report and a practical action plan.

MIXED-USE COMMERCIAL · NUFFIELD, POOLE
Warehouse, showroom and offices in Nuffield
A newly converted commercial premises in Nuffield, combining warehouse storage, a public showroom and office space under one roof. Mixed uses like this make for a complex assessment, as each area has different hazards, occupants and escape needs, from customers who don’t know the building to stored stock and loading areas. We assessed how the spaces connect, the separation between them and the escape routes from each area, and delivered a clear, prioritised action plan.
FAQS
Poole fire risk assessment FAQs
Can’t see your question? Call us on 01202 119088 and speak to an assessor directly.
Who is responsible for fire safety in my Poole building?
The responsible person is usually the employer, owner, landlord or managing agent who controls the premises. In a block of flats this is often the freeholder or management company. If you are unsure, we can help you work out where the responsibility sits.
Do I need a fire risk assessment for a block of flats?
Yes. The common parts of a block, such as stairs, corridors and plant rooms, must be assessed. We also look at flat entrance doors, as they play a key role in stopping fire and smoke spreading.
Can you assess industrial units and warehouses?
Yes. We regularly assess industrial and commercial premises, including larger warehouses with racking, workshops with hot work and units shared by more than one business.
Do you cover Sandbanks and the harbour area?
Yes. We assess flats, holiday lets and commercial premises across Sandbanks, Lilliput and the harbour. Waterfront blocks often have long escape routes and shared plant areas, and we make sure these are properly covered in your report.
